• Welcome to Heirloom Stitches!

heirloom noun heir-loom 1: something of special value handed on from one generation to another

stitch noun stich - 1: one in-and-out movement of a threaded needle in sewing or embroidering 2: a single loop of thread or yarn around an implement (as a knitting needle or crochet hook) 3: a stitch or series of stitches formed in a particular way

While some folks scrapbook, video or snap pictures, I prefer to catalog experiences & the youth of my children through my sewn and knitted designs.   It comes naturally, I suppose. For example, after reading Princess & the Pea to my daughter for 3 weeks straight, I designed the blanket to preserve that memory. A recent experience with my son reminded me of my younger brother, which inspired me to design Beep Beep. A blanket complete with road maps and parking lots. Each design has a story! When you select your next heirloom project, be sure to learn the history behind the piece.
